Group Therapy

Bereavement Groups

Bereavement is both an individual and a social issue. Many clients may start with individual therapy following a bereavement, but group therapy can help with the social aspects of bereavement. I offer limited-session group therapy for bereavement. Sessions last two hours (plus a twenty-minute break during which light refreshments will be provided), and are fortnightly for eight sessions. Sessions have both psychoeducational and peer support elements, and will differ according to the needs of the group. Groups have between two and six participants, according to demand. Occasionally it may be possible to offer groups which are targeted to specific bereavements, for example traumatic bereavement or bereavement by suicide.

Relaxation Classes

Many people find it difficult to relax. They may be stressed by work, or have health, financial or other worries. Learning relaxation techniques can help. Relaxation classes last for an hour and run weekly for five weeks, and can have between two and six participants, according to demand.

Stress Management Classes

Many people find it hard to cope with the stress in their daily lives. Stress management classes incorporate techniques to cope with the physical and psychological symptoms of stress, and relaxation techniques. Classes last 90 minutes and run fortnightly for six sessions.
